When Grandma Comes to Town

We have been really spoiled this past weekend (o.k. JT may feel differently j/k..) you see my Mom has been able to come up a lot this summer and visit, including this past weekend (future visits are in the works!)This means
a) I was spoiled rotten and so were my kids (even the one that isn't born yet.)
b) JT heard a lot of girl chatter... a lot. I can talk talk talk to my Mom for hours, really about nothing. (Friday night JT just mysteriously went to bed and left the chatter boxes running!)
c) JT gets stuck with Boston quite often because we have some serious shopping to attend to.
d) JT does gets out of quite a few "Honey do" list items because I'm too busy having fun to worry about what needs to be done around the house!

So.. in conclusion... I'm not sure he gets the best end of the deal... but my "girl time" really makes for a happier wife and he's got to love that.
We had so much fun this visit. We went up to Discovery Gateway (Children's Museum) on Friday and Boston played kitchen, drove trucks, went to the farm and the grocery store, rode in what looked and sounded like a real helicopter, and played in the water sifter. He had so so so much fun and it was simply bliss watching him play pretend. One of his favorite things to do was to feed the horse carrots and lettuce and onions. He'd make his little "sh sh" sound when he'd feed him.. so cute! Friday night my Mom and I shopped at Target... one of our favorite things to do! I don't know what I really got for my money but we love to just rumage!
Saturday I tried to tell JT he needed to take advantage of his time and go golfing, but he ended up at the gym instead.. not quite sure why?! He then had Boston for pretty much the rest of the day because my Mom and I went to my sister in-law Kelli's baby shower. I have never seen so many cute things. Handmade blankets and burp rags and shoes, it made me so excited to be having a little girl as well and I am so excited that Taylor and Jocey will be so close in age. They will be cute little girly cousins. Then we went to Riverwoods and visited Williams Sonoma ( my Mom and I could live there.. we even said we should just get each other gift certificates to Williams Sonoma for every holiday from now on... you can't go wrong there with us!) We bought... ok.. my Mom bought us Guacamole Starter (can't wait to try it) and yummy b-bque sauce! We also had to check out Gymboree where we found both Bossy and Jocey darling clothes at I must say quite a steal! Then it was on to Toys R' Us where we finished off Birthday shopping for Boston and then off it was to visit my aunt Annie, uncle Jeff, Chel and Ali. That's always loads of fun and gives me a glimpse into what my life will be like in 4 years! My Mom was officially deemed "Aunt Francey" during the visit for some odd reason. The last stop was Costco.. where you know you can spend more money in 15 minutes than just about anywhere! But... the fun didn't stop there. As soon as we got home JT and I took off to go to Matt Ramone's wedding. (He used to be part of the morning show with me on the Eagle and now DJ's on K-Bull.) After the festivities we went Father's Day shopping (so romantic) and then stopped for ice cream at Marble Slab Creamery. My Mom and I share a serious craving for anything Coffee/Mocha flavored so Coffee ice cream with brownies was her treat for babysitting the Boss for the evening.
Sunday we made it through Sacrament Meeting and then it was back to Grandma Olsen's to visit. Boston is a little pickle at her house, but he did love eating strawberries and dipping them in powdered sugar! He also loves to color at her little table in the pantry and he had so much fun riding a little big boy bike around, swinging and getting into Grandpa's garden!
Hayley, Shawn and Jack were at our house as we arrived home (they were up in Logan to visit Shawn's family.) and what a great treat that was. Jack is sooooooooooo so so cute. I LOVE his big smiles and kissable cheeks and blonde hair. He is growing up so fast and I wish I got to see him more often. (Next time you guys are in town or when I am down there I want to babysit!)
So the fun continued.. Hayley, my Mom and I ran over to our cousins/nephew Brock and Kristin's house at Daybreak to see there new baby Drew. He is so cute and there house is darling! This is Brock's first and (probably only) boy and you can tell he is just beaming! It also made me very excited to meet my little Jocelyn in a couple months.
Finally we .. ok again my Mom... made dinner and ran it up to my G-ma and G-pa Cash who are on a mission in Salt Lake (.. yes that's right Salt Lake City!) Their place is tiny and humble, but just what they need and they seem really happy. Boston warmed up at there apartment after a while and was doing somersaults, playing dominos and climbing on their bed.
It was a great weekend and I wish I would have captured more pictures. Thanks Mom for treating me like a spoiled rotten 10 year old; you are one of my very best friends! Also.. sorry Dad and Josh that you didn't catch any fish on your trip to Idaho (this is what left my Mom behind at our house!) and good luck to my Big... oh wait he's younger than me so... "little 6'4" brother" Josh.. he's off to Vegas to help with the Ralph Nader campaign! Yes, Ralph Nader is running for president.. of the United States... and you thought it was down to Obama and McCain!

You are so funny. I'm glad I could share Mom with you for the weekend. It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun. I'm sad I missed out. But we are glad we got to stop by for a second. I too think that Boston is super cute and I love him to death. I just hope one day he will realize that I am not "the scary aunt" and we will get to spend some time hanging out. Love you guys, you guys are the best.

In my defense I didn't go golfing because it was rainy, overcast, windy, and all around bad weather in the morning.

Sounds like a well deserved weekend. If I shopped that much in such a short time period, I think I would have dropped dead!!!
I am very excited to see that little girl too! You are so close.
