Boston started school this week. He only had a week off, but he needs the structure and I am really excited about his new schools. He has been going to a private preschool that deals with kids who have ASD's (autism spectrum disorders.) for the past year, but JT and I along with his therapists felt the kids at the school were too low functioning and that Boston needed to be around typically developing kids as much as possible, (to serve as good models.) so we pulled him out.
He had also been going to a Mom and tot class with me at The Little Gym for the past year, so we decided to enroll him in their Terrific Tots class which is like a Pre-Preschool focusing more on socialization, and fine and gross motor skills which is exactly what Boston needs. So far it has gone great. From what I have observed he stays with his class pretty well, his teachers have said he isn't any trouble and he has even gone potty for them.
He also started his preschool with the school district at Silver Creek elementary. I am a bit skeptical about the program, but I still think it is better than nothing and he probably works better for them than he does me. His IEP (individualized education plan) has some good goals, so I just hope he meets those. He will take a bus to and from school, which FREAKED me out, but he Loves it!! We did get off to a rough start there ( he had an accident on his first day) but I hope it gets better.
In the midst of all this back to school stuff he has decided he is officially too big for naps! Not a good combo; he's exhausted from school plus therapy but he won't sleep!! This has contributed to major behavior problems but I hope it smooths itself out within a few weeks.
He works so hard, poor kid has been drilled and demanded since he was 2. But, he's doing so well with his language and pretend play and transitioning. He's learning to calm himself down and I certainly couldn't be a prouder Mama.
Not to leave Miss Jocelyn out, she is getting 3 teeth and trying to figure out the walking thing. She took about 4 steps for me the other day. I know everyone says don't push her to walk, but she's already into everything and I think she'll be happier, plus Boston didn't walk until 15 months and has always been behind in his gross motor skills so if she walks soon I will feel better in hoping she is not on the spectrum. Now I'm just waiting and praying for her to talk!! Come on Jocey say ... "mama"!! We can't afford you not too!!

She's ahead of Rosemary, Rosemary isn't very close to walking, I don't think.
I hope school goes well for Boston, there always seems to be a bit of anxiety over a transition.
