Mommy's Little Helper

Boston has been wanting to help me so much lately. He is going through this phase where he wants me by his side all the time and consequently I have felt that I can't get anything done. I decided that there are several things he can help me do around the house, so I've tried to make housework a game and for the time being he is playing along. Boston helps me take the laundry out of the dryer, he helps me clean out cupboards and drawers, he helps me unload the dishwasher, and his favorite thing to help me do is sweep and mop the kitchen floors. He is such a sweetheart and I always tell him how much I appreciate his help in hopes that it will continue as his skills develop!
Boston has also been wanting to sit at the table lately. He loves our table because it is glass and he can see his feet through it. It amazes me (knock on wood) that he hasn't poked an eye out or bonked his head on it's sharp glass edges, but he has always been naturally really cautious about things like that. He still eats his meals in his highchair, but he loves making a snack (usually a honey and bread sandwich.) and eating it at the table. He likes peanut butter too, but not on a sandwich. He prefers to eat it right out of the jar. So now it's his very own jar because no one wants to share it with him. ( oh the things I let my child do... but I've learned to pick my battles. He likes to eat it out of the jar on the floor and although this time I got him to use a spoon he usually prefers to eat it with a wire whisk! It's a good source of protein so if this is how he wants to eat it I'm ok with it. PB makes a mess no matter how kids eat it.. right?!) I must admit though that Boston snacks on the floor a lot, hence the pictures of him eating goldfish crackers from the bag in front of the couch, but if the Chinese can sit on the floor to eat.. why can't Boston?
These last pictures are of him and his friend Holden. Maybe I should say of Holden and his friend Boston. See... Holden loves Boston. Holden loves everyone.. but Boston doesn't groove with Holden or many other kids so much. He never hits or is aggressive to other kids, he simply needs his space and he's not afraid to let you know it. But here they are actually having fun together and I think they are pretty dang cute.

Silly silly Boston. I hope he teaches Jack all of his funny tricks, well most of them. I'm glad he is helping around the house. Jack messes things up quicker than I can clean them these days. What a cute handful though.

Hey Carly, how fun is that! Boston is at such a fun age! I was just thinking today that I wished each stage of life (or age) that my kids are at would last a bit longer than it does. I guess I just need to be more aware of the time we have together at their different ages and really savor it! By the way, congratulations on your new little GIRL!! So fun to have one of each. Jamie

That made me laugh because Anna also loves to "sweep" the floor for me, but she is a little dangerous with a broom. I totally agree about picking your battles!! Boston is really cute! I am so excited to hear that you are having a little girl! Congratulations! We really should get together again--we are moving to Lehi this weekend, so maybe in a few weeks!
